If there were 100 people on Earth

I came across this video on LinkedIn today. I think it has some incredible statistics. Many of them don’t seem fair to me.

The fact that 1 person of the 100 ie 1% of the population controls 50% of the money is one.

The facts that nearly a quarter of the worlds population doesn’t have somewhere to live, or that an eighth don’t have clean water are appalling.

I guess the question is, what can we do about it? How do we make the world a better place, a more equitable place, for everyone, not just those around us?

  1. You finish your blog with a hugely important question. Organisations like Rotary International(including Lockerbie Rotary Club) have been making efforts for many years to respond to these inequalities by financing the provision of clean water supplies and adequate shelter for people much less fortunate than ourselves. Mission Impossible? It might well prove to be so(especially in the more equal distribution of wealth) given what seem to be two of the basic fundamental flaws of human nature– greed and selfishness.
A huge challenge for future generations.
