Having had a wonderful few days away in Glasgow, we were glad to get back home, and longed for some good old fashioned home cooked food. So we went out to a pub not too far away (thanks Trip Advisor) and had our best meal for a long time! For all that the pub was a traditional English one with low ceilings, beams and an open fire, the proprietors are Italian and their food was all freshly made today on the premises.
We started by sharing a cold meat platter, with gherkins, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and balsamic vinegar: that was almost a meal in itself. For mains, Dee had a form of pasta we had to look up with potatoes, veg and basil pesto. I had a carbonara with pork crackling. Both were superb, though we struggled to eat it all. We just about managed to roll back to the car and home again. Will definitely be visiting that pub again!
