Play nicely – it’s Image #51

Well, it’s official: I’m getting old! This evening has mostly consisted of helping H build this, and it’s a lot different from any Lego I ever had! Whatever happened to the 1, 2, 4, and 8 “pimple” blocks I remember? Moving parts and an instruction manual the likes of which I’ve not seen since building model aeroplanes back when I was a youngster.  IKEA flat packs will be a cinch compared to this.

Interesting fact of the day: did you know that Lego is a concatenation of two Danish words? Leg meaning play and godt meaning well.  How cool is that?  Enjoy your Saturday!

  1. We have boxes of “old school” LEGO my son has forbidden us to unload. The truth is, I love having it on hand for young visitors to play with in the open-ended, 1/2/4/8 pimpled way it was intended. LEGO lives!

  2. My grandson cannot go a day without LEGO. He loves creating his own sets as well as the boxed sets. One of his favorites is the Pirates of the Caribbean. It stays on display with threats of dire consequences if anyone touches it!…and he’s only 10yrs old.

May the force be with you.
